The Art of Enameling by Nicole Barr

Two-Minute Video

By viewing the video above, we'd like to show you why enameling is not only our passion, but also an art form that we’ve been working to perfect for more than 25 years.

As you look at the wings of this dragonfly pin you can see the way the enamel color has been carefully suspended between delicate strands of the finest sterling silver. Suspending enamel between strands of silver in this way makes it possible for light to pass through and bring the colors to life in a way that nothing else does.

The white diamonds that you see cascading down the tail and in the eyes of the dragonfly reflect this same light. Notice the subtle bursts of color created by the diamonds as the piece is viewed from different angles.

By using traditional French enameling techniques which were made famous in the 19th century by designers like Lalique, we make it possible for you to offer your customers wearable works of art.

The detailed pattern you see in the background of this pendant has been hand engraved. The pattern is overlaid with enamel expressly chosen to enhance the depth of color in this Brazilian amethyst. You can see the way we’ve used intricate strands of sterling silver around the edges and on the back to create a lattice work of design that makes this piece beautiful from every angle.

As you can imagine, with over 500 designs and color combinations in this collection, we’ve only touched on a few of the choices available to you. I’ve selected some of our best selling designs and created a sample package to make it easy for you to begin your own journey with Nicole Barr jewelry.
